Overview
Our client is looking for a Senior Java Developer to join an agile Post-Out team responsible for managing high-volume outbound communications, including email, SMS, letters, and digital document delivery.
The team manages critical Document Management Systems and is currently involved in upgrading these systems to the latest versions, phasing out legacy components, and coordinating extensive testing activities. The ideal candidate has strong technical analysis skills and solid experience with Java, Quarkus, AWS, enterprise applications, and cloud deployments.
The role requires close collaboration with functional analysts, solution architects, testers, infrastructure teams, and other stakeholders. The position is primarily remote, with one day per week onsite in Schaerbeek.
Job Responsibilities
- You communicate efficiently with the different stakeholders, including functional analysts and the solution architect, so that they clearly understand the priorities of the tasks.
- You ensure that your code is fully covered by unit tests.
- You are able to make technical improvement proposals and defend them before the solution architect.
- You support the tester during functional testing.
- You analyse integrations with other parties and systems.
- You are able to develop the technical design based on a functional analysis.
- You work together with infrastructure employees to install the applications and monitor their operation.
- You document your software thoroughly without getting lost in unnecessary detail.
- During development, you work closely with the solution architect, analysts, and testers to ensure that the functionalities are correctly implemented and tested.
Must Have Skills
- Strong professional experience as a Senior Java Developer.
- Thorough knowledge of:
- Java 8 or higher.
- Quarkus.
- SQL.
- JSP.
- XML and XSD.
- SOAP and REST web services.
- OpenShift.
- Experience developing and deploying applications in cloud environments.
- Strong experience with AWS cloud environments.
- Experience with enterprise-class application development and application maintenance.
- Experience working in an Agile environment and Scrum teams.
- Experience working as a Scrum Master is required.
- Strong technical analysis, problem-solving, and synthesis skills.
- Ability to translate functional analysis into a technical design.
- Experience analysing integrations with external parties and systems.
- Experience with unit testing and functional testing support.
- Knowledge of application installation, deployment, and operational monitoring.
- Good knowledge of tools such as:
- WebLogic.
- Maven.
- Nexus.
- Git.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong focus on quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Proactive, dynamic, pragmatic, and results-oriented approach.
- Native-level proficiency in either Dutch or French, with very good knowledge of the other language.
- Very good command of English.

- Knowledge of AWS services such as:
- EC2.
- ECS or EKS.
- Lambda.
- S3.
- API Gateway.

- SNS or SQS.
- Experience with Document Management Systems.
- Experience with Papyrus or similar document composition and communication platforms.

- Experience coordinating multiple test scenarios across technical and functional teams.
- Knowledge of comparable cloud services or technologies.
