Overview
We are hiring a Python Developer / AI Software Engineer to join the Data Engineering team responsible for building and maintaining the Edison big data platform on AWS. You will design and implement libraries, frameworks and services for large-scale data processing, support AI workloads, and create AI code tools (agents/skills/plugins/policies) to accelerate developer productivity. You’ll collaborate across Edison teams, work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and help deliver high-quality, production-ready solutions that support thousands of data pipelines across multiple countries.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and implement complex features for large-scale data processing frameworks and platform services.
- Build AI code tools: develop agents, skills, plugins and policy components that integrate with developer workflows (e.g., Copilot/Claude-code-based tooling).
- Develop and maintain the data access library that interfaces with the data lake using Spark, Pandas, Polars and other processing technologies.
- Implement features for data movement (cross-account and off-platform), GDPR-compliance plugins, retention/cleanup, and data lineage/metadata exposure.
- Contribute to framework architecture and provide design input to ensure scalability, security and maintainability.
- Create, maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices for platform components.
- Troubleshoot, debug and provide production support for platform products; coordinate cross-team incident resolution.
- Collaborate with product, data engineering and data science teams to onboard new products and integrate platform capabilities.
- Mentor colleagues, drive engineering best practices, and balance tactical delivery with strategic vision.
- Own features end-to-end: from requirements and design through implementation, testing, deployment and operational support.
Must Have Skills
- Strong Python proficiency, including idiomatic design, testing and design-pattern knowledge.
- Solid experience with large-scale data processing frameworks: Spark and modern libraries (Pandas, Polars).
- Cloud experience on AWS (services for compute, storage, security and cross-account data movement).
- Practical experience with CI/CD tools and workflows (Jenkins, Bitbucket/GitHub, Concourse).
- Experience with orchestration/scheduling systems (Airflow).
- Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) and real-world use of such tools to accelerate development.
- Strong debugging and technical analysis skills for complex distributed systems.
- Proven ability to design maintainable software and contribute to architecture decisions.
- Good communication skills; capable of explaining technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ownership, decision-making and collaborative team skills.
- Experience level: medior–senior (about 5–7 years) or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience building AI code tools, agents, or policy-driven plugins beyond using copilots (e.g., integrating LLM-based agents into developer workflows).
- Experience implementing GDPR compliance features or data governance tooling.
- Familiarity with metadata platforms, data lineage tools or observability frameworks.
- Experience with multi-tenant platform design and cross-account AWS networking/permissions.
- Knowledge of additional orchestration/streaming systems (e.g., Kafka, Kubernetes).
- Prior experience working in a financial or highly regulated environment.
- Contributions to open-source data libraries or internal developer frameworks.
- Mentoring experience or prior leadership in platform or framework teams.
What's great in the job?
- Great team of smart people, in a friendly and open culture
- No dumb managers, no stupid tools to use, no rigid working hours
- No waste of time in enterprise processes, real responsibilities and autonomy
- Expand your knowledge of various business industries
- Create content that will help our users on a daily basis
- Real responsibilities and challenges in a fast evolving company
