Overview
The client is looking for a Senior Java Developer to join an agile Post-Out team within the Facilities domain. This team manages all outgoing communications (email, SMS, letters, Doccle, etc.) to 4.5 million members, handling around 80 million communications per year using critical Document Management Systems (Papyrus and Comform).
The role focuses on upgrading these systems to the latest versions, phasing out legacy components, and designing/executing multiple test scenarios. The ideal candidate combines strong technical analysis skills, hands-on Java/Quarkus/AWS expertise, and the ability to work in a bilingual (NL/FR) agile environment with 1 day/week onsite in Schaerbeek and 4 days remote. Start is ASAP, with an initial duration until end of year (extension possible).
Job Responsibilities
- Communicate efficiently with various stakeholders (functional analysts, solution architect) so they perfectly understand task priorities.
- Ensure your code is fully covered with unit tests.
- Propose technical improvements and defend them to the solution architect.
- Support testers during functional testing.
- Analyze integrations with other parties and systems.
- Translate functional analyses into technical designs.
- Collaborate with infrastructure staff to install applications and monitor their operation.
- Document your software thoroughly without getting lost in unnecessary details.
- During development, work closely with the solution architect, analysts, and testers to ensure functionalities are correctly implemented and tested.
Must Have Skills
- Deep knowledge of Quarkus, JSP, SQL, Java 8+, XML, XSD, Web Services (SOAP & REST), and OpenShift.
- Experience developing and deploying in cloud environments, preferably AWS.
- Proficiency with tools such as WebLogic, Maven, Nexus, Git.
- Experience in the development and application maintenance of enterprise-class systems.
- Strong experience working in Agile methodologies and Scrum teams; Scrum Master experience is a plus.
- Excellent technical analysis and synthesis capabilities.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team.
- Quality-oriented, accurate, and no-nonsense mindset.
- Result-driven, proactive, and dynamic.
- Native-level Dutch or French, with strong knowledge of the other national language and very good English.
Nice to have
- Hands-on knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, RDS, SNS/SQS, or equivalent cloud services.
- Experience acting as Scrum Master.
- Familiarity with high-volume communication platforms or document management systems.
- Background in regulated or membership-based organizations handling large-scale member communications.
