Overview
We are seeking a skilled
Data & Functional Analyst
with 5–7 years of experience as a Data Analyst to reinforce the Data Team and work on multiple use cases linked to the company's Data Platform.
Skilled in translating business needs into functional requirements, with strong expertise in end-to-end financial processes (pricing, billing, COGS, margin, closing). Experienced in impact analysis, data quality, testing, and stakeholder management. Proficient in SQL, Python, Power BI, and Agile environments, with exposure to SAP IS-U and DWH modelling.
Job Responsibilities
- Act as a bridge between Business, Finance, and Data teams.
- Analyse business needs and translate them into clear functional requirements.
- Develop a strong understanding of end-to-end business processes (pricing, billing, Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), margin calculation, closing).
- Perform in-depth impact analysis of business changes, new requests, or system evolutions.
- Identify impacts on data flows, reports, KPIs, and financial figures.
- Identify potential risks on data consistency and reporting accuracy.
- Ensure alignment across upstream and downstream systems.
- Act as a guardian of functional integrity of financial closing applications.
- Ensure a high level of data quality and consistency across reports.
- Investigate data issues, discrepancies, and anomalies.
- Perform root cause analysis and follow up on resolution.
- Contribute to defining and monitoring data quality controls and KPIs.
- Define, document, and execute functional test plans and test cases.
- Support and coordinate business testing (BAT/UAT).
- Validate data and reports from a functional and financial perspective.
- Challenge inconsistencies between expected vs actual results.
- Ensure that all changes are properly validated before deployment.
- Maintain high-quality and up-to-date functional specifications, business rules, calculation logic, test documentation, and traceability.
- Ensure proper knowledge transfer to Run teams.
- Contribute to building a robust and auditable documentation framework.
Must Have Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree.
- 5-7 years of experience as a Data Analyst or similar position.
- Proven experience in the energy sector with exposure to SAP IS-U (Invoicing).
- Proven experience in the financial sector (e.g. closing processes).
- Proven experience in Functional Analysis and DWH modelling roles.
- Knowledge of SQL, Python, and Power BI.
- Experience with Agile methodology.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with ability to manage stakeholders.
- Good ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions with strong design and supportability.
- Eager to understand and work on business logic, particularly related to pricing.
- Able to understand and address complex analytical challenges.
- Flexible to work on multiple topics whenever required to support the business as closely as possible.
- Strong discipline in documentation.
- Fluent in English and Dutch and/or French.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of technical systems such as SAP IS-U and Salesforce.
- Familiarity with monthly financial closing processes.
- Knowledge of Agile tools such as Azure DevOps.
- Familiarity with data platform concepts, preferably in an AWS landscape.
- Knowledge of Great Expectations and Collibra is a plus.
- Hands-on approach with curiosity about data science.
- A team player with the ability to work effectively with global teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage constraints, especially during end-of-month closings.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Proactive, hands-on approach.
- Ability to work autonomously.
