Overview
An experienced Data Engineer with a strong background in Linux-based environments, data management, and automation. The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of experience in data analytics and engineering, with proven expertise in managing data pipelines, scheduling jobs, and ensuring data integrity. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, optimizing workflows, and contributing to data governance initiatives to maintain high-quality and reliable data delivery. The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, managing, and troubleshooting data pipelines, automating processes with shell scripting, and leveraging Control-M for job scheduling and monitoring. The role also requires experience with version control (Git), basic knowledge of Ab Initio development, and familiarity with mainframe systems for data transfer and integration. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct root cause analysis are essential.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain Linux-based data pipelines, ensuring efficient and accurate data flows.
- Develop and maintain shell scripts to automate data processing, transformation, and loading.
- Collaborate with data engineers to optimize workflows and improve data quality.
- Create, schedule, and manage jobs in Control-M to ensure timely data processing and delivery.
- Work with the planning team to coordinate and execute releases with minimal disruption to operations.
- Monitor job execution, analyze logs, and troubleshoot failures to maintain data integrity.
- Identify and respond to data-related incidents, minimizing impact on operations and stakeholders.
- Perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence and enhance data quality.
- Document incidents, resolution steps, and lessons learned for future reference.
- Manage databases, run queries, and resolve connectivity issues to ensure availability.
- Collaborate with data analysts and engineers to strengthen data governance and quality.
- Develop and maintain data quality checks to ensure accuracy and integrity.
Must Have Skills
- At least 6 years of relevant experience in Data Analytics.
- Strong background in Linux system administration, scripting, and data management, with hands-on experience in job scheduling and release management.
- Basic knowledge of Ab Initio development and data governance principles.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Familiarity with mainframe systems for data transfer and integration.
- Fluent in English.
- Proficiency in French and/or Dutch is a strong plus.
