Overview
The Software Engineer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting software solutions for SCADA, EMS, and DMS systems, focusing on transmission and distribution networks. The role involves creating electrical data models, developing and migrating operator displays, dashboards, and HMIs, and handling real-time data acquisition, integration, replication, and logging.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain databases and data models for real-time power system applications (EMS/DMS/SCADA).
- Develop, enhance, and maintain display applications, dashboards, and HMI interfaces/station displays for operators and engineers.
- Ensure high performance, reliability, and integrity of database systems under real-time operational loads.
- Perform database tuning, indexing, query optimisation, and performance monitoring.
- Develop and maintain scripts, APIs, and services to support data integration, replication, and reporting.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database and display issues, performing root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain documentation, including database schemas and display specifications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Must Have Skills
- At least 2 years of experience in creating electrical data models for transmission and distribution networks in SCADA/EMS/DMS systems.
- Expertise in PL/SQL and Oracle database management.
- Expertise in software development using C, C++, Java, or similar languages.
- Experience in developing or migrating operator displays, dashboards, and HMIs for real-time control applications.
- Experience in SLD creation, HMI development, real-time dashboards, operator displays, and reports.
- Skilled in programming/scripting using C, C++, PERL, Java, or equivalent for application interfacing and automation.
- Experience in data handling, including real-time data acquisition, Historian integration, data replication, and logging.
- Experience in performance tuning and monitoring, including query optimisation, indexing, and database health monitoring.
- Experience with version control using Git, SVN, or equivalent.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in incident management, root-cause analysis, and troubleshooting production issues.
- Fluent in English.
